The 3x3x3 Pentatrap Ghost Cube is a shape modification that transforms the familiar 3x3x3 Rubik’s Cube into a completely different geometric form. I wanted to move away from the traditional cube shape and experiment with something more unusual, so I modified it into a pentagonal trapezohedron shape.
But changing the outer shape was only the beginning. To make the puzzle more interesting and challenging, I also incorporated ghosted layers into the design. With the layers no longer being as visually obvious as on a regular cube, identifying the correct pieces and understanding their positions becomes part of the solving challenge.
The result is the 3x3x3 Pentatrap Ghost Cube, combining an unusual geometric shape with the added difficulty of ghosted layers. It is a fun example of how a familiar 3x3x3 mechanism can be transformed into a completely different puzzle experience through creative shape modification.
