4x4x4 Lotus Ball

The idea for the 4x4x4 Lotus Ball came from one of those unexpected moments when an ordinary thing suddenly sparks a puzzle idea. I often take inspiration from the world around me, and one day while I was in a garden, I noticed a beautiful lotus flower. Looking at its layered petals, I started wondering: Can I turn this shape into a puzzle?

That thought led me to experiment with the geometry of a lotus and eventually design the Lotus Ball. I used a regular 4x4x4 cube as the base puzzle and created custom 3D printed extension pieces to transform its familiar cube shape into the rounded, petal-inspired form.

The result is a puzzle inspired directly by nature—a combination of a 4x4x4 mechanism, creative shape modification, and 3D printing.

The 4x4x4 Lotus Ball is a reminder that puzzle ideas can come from anywhere, even from simply walking through a garden and noticing a flower.
