3x3x2 Hexagonal Crazy Cube

The 3x3x2 Hexagonal Crazy Cube was created as my contribution to the Puzzle Advent Calendar 2023. As part of the annual event, I wanted to participate with a newly invented puzzle rather than simply modifying an existing design. That gave me the opportunity to combine several ideas into one unusual creation.

I started with the Crazy 3x3x2 puzzle and experimented with changing its familiar cuboid shape into a distinctive hexagonal shape. But I wanted the puzzle to offer more than just an unusual appearance, so I also incorporated ghosted layers into the design.

Combining the crazy mechanism, hexagonal shape modification, and ghosted layers created a puzzle with several challenges working together. The unusual geometry makes the puzzle visually interesting, while the ghosted layers make it harder to recognize and track the pieces during solving.

The 3x3x2 Hexagonal Crazy Cube became my unique entry for Puzzle Advent Calendar 2023—a project that brought multiple puzzle concepts together in one creation.
