| The story of the 4x4x4 Eye Mirror started with a surprise gift. I wanted to send one of my new puzzles to my puzzle-community friend, Max, before announcing it on social media or in the community forums. During one of our chats, I casually asked him for his postal address. He was surprised and asked why I needed it. I simply told him that I wanted to send him something as a gift. At that moment, I hadn’t even decided what the puzzle would be! Then I got the idea: why not design an eye-shaped puzzle using a 4×4 mechanism? I started working on the design and created the 4x4x4 Eye Mirror using a mirror mechanism. For the appearance, I chose yellow fluorescent PLA for the body and matte black stickers to create the distinctive eye-like look. When Max received the puzzle, he really liked it. For me, that made the puzzle especially meaningful—not just because I had designed something unusual, but because the idea was created specifically to surprise a friend. Also this puzzle is very important because it is my 100th puzzle listed in twisty puzzles museum archive. |
