4x4x4 Elliptical Cylinder Mirror

The 4x4x4 Elliptical Cylinder Mirror is a shape modification that started with a regular 4x4x4 cube and the idea of giving it a completely different geometric identity. Instead of keeping the traditional cube shape, I wanted to experiment with a smooth and unusual elliptical cylinder form.

To achieve the new shape, I designed and used custom 3D printed extension pieces around the original 4x4x4 mechanism. These extensions transform the familiar cube into an elliptical cylinder while allowing the puzzle to remain functional.

I then took the concept one step further by adding a mirror mechanism. The mirror effect makes the puzzle more challenging because the pieces can become difficult to distinguish based on their shapes alone.

The result is the 4x4x4 Elliptical Cylinder Mirror—a combination of shape modification, 3D printing, and mirror-puzzle mechanics that creates a unique challenge for twisty puzzle collectors and enthusiasts.
