4x4x4 star cube

The 4x4x4 Star Cube is a shape modification that started with a regular 4x4x4 cube and the idea of creating something completely different from its familiar geometry. I wanted to design a shape that looked more angular and distinctive, while still keeping the original cube mechanism at its core.

For this project, I designed the new form by combining two triangular prisms. This gave the puzzle its characteristic star-like appearance and created an interesting challenge in transforming the standard cube into the new geometry.

To bring the design to life, I used custom 3D printed extension pieces around the regular 4x4x4 cube. These extensions reshape the exterior and allow the original mechanism to take on the unusual star form.

The result is the 4x4x4 Star Cube—a combination of geometric experimentation, 3D printing, and twisty-puzzle modification that turns a familiar 4x4x4 into a unique star-shaped puzzle for collectors and enthusiasts.
